Class Descriptions

Please note....age requirements below are only for reference.  Dancers are placed in classes based on their ability.  Age is not the deciding factor.

Class Information:

The following classes are part of our recreational program.  This program is geared for the very young dancer, the beginner student, or those children interested in dancing just for fun.

PS A – 3 Year olds:  45 minute class that uses music and creative movement to teach dance basics.  Class focuses on basic muscle memory skills, musicality, and proper terminology.  Although dance steps in tap and ballet are taught, tap shoes are not used for this level.  Simple tumbling and gymnastic type movement is also incorporated in this class.

PS B – 4 Year olds:  45 minute class that uses music and creative movement to teach dance basics.  Class focuses on basic muscle memory skills, musicality, and proper terminology in ballet and tap techniques.  Class is geared toward the slightly older child and incorporates the use of tap shoes for the tap portion of the class.

KG – 5 Year olds:  45 minute class.  Class focuses on basic muscle memory skills, musicality, and proper terminology.

Combo A – Ballet and tap combination class geared for the 6 & 7 year old dancer.  Ballet barre exercises are worked more in depth as is tap terminology and technique.  This class bridges the gap between “baby classes” and the conservatory dancer.

Ballet I – 7 & 8 Year olds:  This class is an introduction to the world of classical ballet.  This 45-minute class gives children an opportunity to experience a REAL ballet class.  Classical music is used for all exercises.  Emphasis is placed on proper terminology as well as body alignment.

Tap/Jazz I – 7-9 Year olds:  This tap and jazz combination class is a great introduction to the world of dance for the beginner dancer.  Dancers learn techniques of both jazz and tap.

Rec ballet and jazz classes

Hip Hop – 7 and up:  Perfect class for anyone!  Funky street jazz that challenges the body and brain.
